Little Dragon

Here's an oldie I discovered in a sketch book. I've been going through some of my old ones recently so expect to see some of them popping up here.

This one is from '05, when I was living in San Francisco. I think it was drawn the day after visiting Chinatown. I remember seeing a bunch of Bruce Lee posters in most of the stores and felt inspired to do my own attempt.

I'm usually hit or miss when it comes to likenesses but this one came out aight.

Now I'm wondering if I should fix that wonky right hand of his!

Dusting off the sketch books

Nothing better than going thru some old books and seeing some stuff I forgot about. Quite different from the works I WANT to forget about.

But it does allow me to update this site twice in one month so its a good thing, right?

I guess I do what I'm told

and if someone tells me to update my blog, well dammit, that's what I'm gonna do!

Granted, its some old stuff but an updates an update as they say in the blogosphere so here ya go. Comments, cash and phone numbers (if you're cute and have a nice voice) are appreciated.

Another month, another update

I'm pretty sure I never mentioned it here but I lurve me some Persona 4. Its this crazy Japanese high school simulation/rpg. Anywho, I was checking out yootoob for videos to get my fix when I came across the most irresistibly bizarre video.

There was some craze going on based on some goofy pop song and suddenly all manga/anime characters starting popping up doing this whacked dance. Naturally I loved it. So in order to agitate a friend of mine, I decided to draw myself doing the dance.

I think this is the first self portrait I ever put up on this site. Hmmm....

Slight change of pace

Ok, I'm kinda having issues with my scanner. The usual repair techniques aren't helping. ( y'know...shaking it, banging on it, etc ) so until that's fixed, no new sketches.

Some may think its a good thing but I ain't listening to that. So, I decided to upload something I did for my job. It's for a wall we had for the new Rolling Stone magazine t-shirts.

I basically used an 8 foot piece of gator board, a white pencil to draw the design then glitter glue to "ink" over the linework. After that was set, I cut out the Rolling Stone logo with a jig-saw and attached a guitar using wire and hot glue.

And voila!!

A hit n run post

Just a quick little thing to post before going to sleep.

So, I'm still on this New Gods kick ( no, Final Crisis didn't kill them for me ) so I have an inked copy of the Orion sketch I did and Big Barda.

Orion came out better than I thought but the Barda sketch is just bad. The body is completely off and the inking didn't help matters. Well, you're suppose to learn from your mistakes and this is a one to draw on. ( ha! )

Comments welcome, as usual.

That was fast

This might be a record for this blog. New doodles already? Well, I'm on a New Gods kick thanks to Aris and his redesigns ( click the link to see his blog ) and of course, to King Kirby's amazing imagination.

So I started off with the two most well-known characters, Darkseid and Orion. Well, with a pop-in by Desaad. I have to admit that I really like the inking job I did on Darkseid. Usually I do a horrible job but that one is pretty damned good.

I think I'm going to tackle Big Barda next ( rroowwrrr) and maybe Mister Miracle. Subject to change, of course.

Guess who?!?!

What a shocker! An update on this blog? Whodathunkit?

Honestly, I've been pushed to put some stuff up before I was ready but I crumble under pressure so here's a couple of new sketches. Nothing finished ( of course!) but its new and never before seen so, that's gotta do for now.

Anyways, I won't promise that I'm going to suddenly become a prolific beast but I'll try and add stuff from time to time.

A day after the nerd prom

and here I am with sketches of superheroes. Can you blame me?

Had a blast going to the NY Comicon. Got to see some friends, meet artists and more importantly, got some kick-ass sketch books! Needless to say, it got me on a superhero kick during the train ride home so here are a couple of them.

Nothing special but fun to bust out quick.

Not ready to stretch out yet

But hey, at least I'm updating again, right?

The first sketch is of a female ninja since ninjas are cool, right? Can't go wrong with ninjas.

The second piece is a figure study. Not sure if I'm going to finish it since I have no idea what to make of it. We'll see.
